Happy New Year!
Welcome to my New Year Determination. Resolutions don’t work for me, so for 2016, I’m determined to get back to a consistent writing schedule and finish my WIP that should have been done last year... My bio says that I love everything that goes bump in the night, the macabre, spooky and unusual love stories. Translation: I write paranormal romance but I’m a horror girl at heart. In the midst of publishing my two paranormal romances and one novella, I was invited to submit short dark stories to be included in a series of anthologies. I jumped at the chance and am happy to report I have a vampire, witch and demon story in the Ten Tale series, edited by Rayne Hall. I discovered I loved writing short stories, especially dark ones. I then tried my hand at two horror flash fiction stories, which I threw up on my blog during a Paranormal/Horror blog hop and people liked them!! Writing shorts and flash fiction is a great learning tool for me, as I have a tendency to ramble, to learn how keep the important scenes and discard the ones that don’t keep the story moving, all under 5000 words (500-1000 words for flash fiction) I’ve never written Harlequin-like romance. My hero and heroine have a strange or odd destiny that needs to be fulfilled. A birthmark recognized from the past, tattoos revealed in dreams, an old photo of two small children playing in front of a haunted house, only to meet twenty years later at that same house. My current work in progress, FAVORS FOR THE DEAD, features a new character, Spookie Millane. Without giving away too much, Spookie provides the favors and Mick, an epileptic psychic, must help her fulfill one of her most dangerous requests. They meet through visions he has while having a seizure. This will be my first real attempt at merging my horror side and my romance side and it’s been great fun. I hope the readers agree. Do you have a determination for 2016?
